Foundation Sleep Workshop

Our Foundation Programme provides an introduction to our work and is suitable for both parents/carers and professionals.

The course covers the importance of sleep, sleep physiology, how to identify the causes of sleep issues and some practical strategies to try.

Learning Outcomes

At the end of this course you will be able to:

  • Recognise the importance of sleep for wellbeing
  • Identify possible reasons for children’s sleep issues
  • Use some of the practical suggestions outlined

Sleep Success Workshop

Our Sleep Success programme builds on the learning from the Foundation Programme offering a more in-depth exploration of sleep issues and providing strategies to explore.

It is suitable for both parent/carers and professionals. Sleep Success has been commissioned by a number of Local Authorities to ensure that their staff teams are all providing standardised, evidence based sleep information.

Additional modules around ADHD and sleep and Autistic Spectrum Disorders and sleep are also available.

Learning Outcomes

At the end of this course you will be able to:

  • Recognise the role of our circadian rhythm and the need for routine
  • Identify sleep associations and sleep stages
  • Use a sleep diary to identify potential sleep issues
  • Develop good sleep hygiene for youngsters

Sleep Success - ASD

This version of Sleep Success includes an additional module around supporting children with Autism Spectrum Disorder. It explores common sleep issues reported, prevalence of these and factors to consider to support a better night’s sleep.

Sleep Success - ADHD

Our Sleep Success programme but with an additional module outlining some of the common sleep issues faced by youngsters who have a diagnosis of ADHD. It also includes information about our award winning research project delivered in partnership with Sheffield Children’s Hospital and Sheffield Local Authority.

Sleep Tight Workshop

Sleep Tight is a course for professionals and provides the tools needed to deliver early intervention sleep workshops.

Ideal for Family Support workers this comprehensive training package provides you with a toolkit to use directly with families to deliver a 5 week evidence based course. Research shows that on average children gain an additional 2.5 hours per night once the families have completed the programme.

Sleep Tight is now delivered in over 150 centres across the country.

Learning Outcomes

At the end of this course you will be able to:

  • Recognise the role of sleep hygiene to improve sleep
  • Identify causes of sleep issues and appropriate practical strategies to try
  • Interpret sleep diaries to identify potential sleep issues
  • Deliver a 5 week sleep programme to families utilising the knowledge gained

Sleep Champion Workshop

This training course is designed for professionals working in secondary schools.

Research shows that sleep patterns alter during puberty meaning youngsters often don’t fall asleep until much later at night. This can result in difficulties waking in the morning and sleep deprivation impacting on their education.

This course outlines the reasons for the sleep issues, practical strategies to support youngsters to improve their sleep and resources to share with both parents/carers and young people. Schools interested in improving attendance and attainment will benefit from having a Sleep Champion amongst their team.

Sleep Practitioner Course

The Sleep Practitioner course is ideal for professionals who want to provide evidence based intervention for children age 12 months upwards. The course provides the resources to deliver sleep clinics in your local community.

This course is accessed by a wide range of professionals from health, education, social care and the voluntary sector. Delegates receive lectures from experts in their field such as Professor Heather Elphick who lead Sheffield Children's Hospital's sleep team, Dr Donna Fisher, Clinical Psychologist and Jenny Featherstone, Community Team Leader for Physiotherapy and Occupation Therapy.

The course is delivered over 3 days and delegates engage in practical case study work and produce a reflective assignment.

An application process is in place and applicants must meet our required person specification to be accepted on the course.
