Volunteer training
Since the charity began in 2012, recruiting and supporting volunteers has been key to our approach.
We recognise how valuable our volunteers are and are committed to supporting them and recruiting more trained volunteer Sleep Practitioners to support the most vulnerable families, including increasingly through online/telephone channels, to help spread the message about sleep support within communities.
The charity has a strong track record in recruiting and managing volunteers, culminating in the awarding of the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service in 2020.
Sleep Talkers
We’re also developing our national Sleep Talkers training programme to encourage the nation to talk about sleep positively.
Our volunteers will be trained to pass information on to people in their areas who are experiencing sleep issues which increases participation in our services and helps us spread the message across the UK.
Our volunteer Sleep Talkers aims to reduce stigma around lack of sleep. We know that having sleep issues is common – up to 40% of the population suffer – and talking about it to somebody that understands helps to reduce feelings of isolation and loneliness.
