Supporting Better Sleep Together: The Partnership Between The Sleep Charity, Bed Advice UK and the National Bed Federation

Sep 8, 2025

We are thrilled to partner with The Sleep Charity on their renowned Sleeptember campaign for 2025. This year’s campaign is packed with exciting and engaging free resources to help you on your sleep journey, including a downloadable Bed Buyer’s Guide, the 30-day sleep challenge, free webinars featuring some of the Bed Advice team and so much more!

But our relationship with the charity has been around for longer than you might realise. We’ve been collaborating with The Sleep Charity for many years, starting with the National Bed Federation (NBF) founding The Sleep Council in 1995, which went on to merge with the charity five years ago. In this blog, we’re delving into our partnership and why this collaboration matters.

What is the National Bed Federation? Bed Advice UK is the consumer arm of the National Bed Federation (NBF), the UK trade association for the bed industry, representing leading bed manufacturers and their suppliers.

The NBF’s role is to ensure the UK and Irish bed industry is held to account; we promote responsible manufacturing and improve consumer confidence in buying beds made by British and Irish brands.

All the NBF’s bed manufacturer members have been independently “approved” through rigorous auditing to ensure their products comply with strict fire safety, health and hygiene and product descriptions regulations.

The bed itself isn’t approved, but you can sleep easy knowing the manufacturer you’re buying from is reputable and doing things by the book.

What is Bed Advice UK?

Bed Advice UK is a consumer-focused service of the NBF, offering trusted, impartial, expert advice on choosing and caring for your bed (including your mattress and bed base). Essentially, we help shoppers make informed decisions for better sleep. After all, the foundation of a good night’s sleep is a good, comfortable and supportive bed!

Our partnership with The Sleep Charity

The NBF founded The Sleep Council in 1995 with the aim of educating the nation on the importance of a healthy night’s sleep and the part that a good bed, regularly replaced, plays in achieving that. In 2020, The Sleep Council merged with The Sleep Charity and the NBF became their corporate donor.

Partnering with The Sleep Charity makes complete sense because of our shared goal in promoting better sleep for all. From collaborating on campaigns such as Sleeptember and National Bed Month and projects such as the free adult sleep eBook and series two of the Sleep On podcast, to sharing expertise year-round across blogs and social media.

By combining The Sleep Charity’s expertise in sleep education with Bed Advice UK’s expert knowledge of beds and mattresses, we hope to empower the nation to improve their sleep for better overall health and wellbeing.

If you’re considering a new bed or wondering if now is the right time to replace your old one, don’t wait – use the Bed Buyer’s Guide in the Sleeptember toolkit or look out for our webinar on 10 September at 12.30pm.
